The latest healthcare news: GE Healthcare (a global medical technology and healthcare solutions company), just launched their AI-Powered Venue Sprint.
What is the Venue Sprint?
It is a portable ultrasound system designed to help individuals in the healthcare setting (critical care, emergency medicine, medical transport, etc.) by providing real-time, high-quality imaging with AI-driven tools to enhance decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
The key to this device is its speed and precision, which are essential needs in these fast-paced, high-pressure “urgent” environments. The Venue Sprint comes with AI-powered tools, wireless probes, and an intuitive user interface.

Long story short, it is mobile, smart, and AI-driven. Let’s break down these features a little more.
Key features of the venue sprint
Wireless Vscan Air Dual-Probes: These wireless probes offer flexibility and ease of use, allowing you to move around freely without being connected to the main device system.
AI-enabled Resources and Documentation: AI tools that provide precise calculations and insights into patients, with the ability to make complex diagnostic procedures easier, improve accuracy, and speed up decision-making.
Caption Guidance: This feature provides simple, on-screen instructions to help you take high-quality ultrasound images, making it easier for users of all experience levels.
Bladder Volume Tool: A tool that helps you quickly and accurately measure bladder volume using reference images.
Venue Coach MSK: A tool that provides reference images, anatomy markings, and video tutorials to help you with musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging.
There are additional features that I won’t elaborate on in detail, but you can look them up, including Auto Volume Flow and ViewPoint 6 Integration.
“The Venue Sprint—and new enhancements to the Venue family—are designed to empower clinicians to deliver care wherever it is needed with the simplicity, flexibility and support they require to make confident clinical decisions.”
“We are excited to expand and enhance our point of care portfolio with unique solutions that build on our strengths in digital and handheld ultrasound to help clinicians navigate the evolving healthcare landscape.”
Karley Yoder, General Manager, Point of Care Ultrasound and Chief Digital Officer, Ultrasound at GE HealthCare.
Now I don’t want you to think that this is the first ever portable ultrasound system because that is not true. To name a few, if you would like to research them, they are: Philips Lumify app-based ultrasound system, Mindray TE7, and Siemens ACUSON Freestyle. All of these systems have benefits of their own, but where the Venue Sprint stands out is its AI-driven critical diagnostics and its wireless portability.

The Venue Sprint could be a game-changing device in terms of increasing accessibility, improving healthcare outcomes, and providing crucial support to our healthcare workers. With its portability, AI-enabled tools, and wireless capabilities, this system has the potential to significantly enhance the speed and accuracy with which care is provided in high-pressure environments like emergency rooms and ICUs.
GE HealthCare will showcase the Venue Sprint, along with the advanced Venue family of ultrasound systems at the ACEP Scientific Assembly, taking place in Las Vegas from September 29 to October 2, 2024.
Could the Venue Sprint Transform Healthcare?
What do you think? Could the Venue Sprint be a tool that pushes the envelope in delivering optimal care? I’d love to hear your thoughts and what features you’d like to see in future versions of the Venue Sprint that could continue to push healthcare innovation forward.
